BIOgraphy, Alan Retzman

Director of Personnel

Director of Personnel, Rev. Retzman, brings pastoral and social work experience into his position. An ordained elder of The Free Methodist Church in Canada , Alan served a combined 15 years at Queensway church in Niagara Falls , and North Park in Brantford , both in Ontario . Since 1992, Alan Retzman has completed his MSW at Wilfrid Laurier University and has worked as a Medical Social Worker in the Niagara region. He also holds an M Div from Asbury Seminary and a B.Sc. in Religion and Philosophy from Manchester College, Indiana .

Rev. Retzman has taught seminars in assertiveness training, caregiving distress, detecting and responding to seniors abuse and other medical social roles within the community and hospitals. In his current role he has developed a “tracking system” for all ministry candidates and members of conference,

introduced the Job Description Performance Appraisal

System for all Canadian churches and is currently

introducing a system for developing leaders through

the local church.

Married to Ellen, a secondary school teacher, they

have two married daughters, Mary Kathryn (Frank

Ertl) living in Brampton, and Meredith (Brian Mitchell),

living in Jackson, Michigan . He enjoys music of all

kinds, electronic gadgets and plays guitar mainly for

personal worship and relaxation, but enjoys leading

worship when he has opportunity.
