The Free Methodist Church in Canada

In response to recent severe flooding on the west coast of Sri Lanka, FM church leaders there were able to distribute some emergency aid to church-related families.

In all, 44 families in 5 different congregations were aided. Food provisions were the main item distributed along with roofing sheets and school materials for children that had been destroyed or washed away in the flooding. The flooding happened in the area close by the capital city of Colombo, where the FMC has several congregations with believers having limited material resources. Several families in these churches will require significant repair to their homes before reoccupying.

The Final Regional Gathering will take place on June 12 in Merritt, BC. The purpose of the gatherings has been:

• To introduce local church leaders to one another so that they can build relationships and potentially
  give assistance to one another
• To vision-cast to lay leaders and pastors between General Conferences
• To increase missional momentum, and counter-act feelings of isolation
• To facilitate the formation of partnerships through which local churches in a region might respond to
  the possibility of planting a church in Canada or sending out a cross-cultural worker to a ministry beyond
  Canada or helping one another (e.g. work teams to help one another with construction projects) in other
  ways.

Pentecost Sunday, May 23, has been set aside as a time of reflection for the people of God all around the globe. Here is a excerpt from "Global Day of Prayer"

The Global Day of Prayer is a call to united prayer. It creates an excellent opportunity to unite in prayer with millions around the globe, based on Acts 1 & 2.
