Global Ministries

Canadian Free Methodist churches are involved in ministry around the world through a variety of means. We believe that vision for sharing the good news of Jesus Christ begins in the local church and proceeds outward into our own communities and beyond, as the Lord leads. Our philosophy of ministry and Theology of Mission [PDF] can be found in our Resources section.

Our global ministry priorities focus upon Building Indigenous Leadership, reaching out to Unreached People Groups, and sharing our resources through Global Stewardship. Our Canadian missionaries, sent out by local churches, invest their God-given gifts and passion for hurting people in these ministry areas. A special concern is for those urban centres that function as Gateway Cities for unreached people groups.

We work in partnership, internationally, with US-based Free Methodist World Missions and Asian Free Methodists through APFMMA. International Childcare Ministries (ICCM) provides opportunities to sponsor needy children in developing countries. World Relief Canada is our major partner for emergency relief and wholistic community development. (ICCM) provides opportunities to sponsor needy children in developing countries.

We encourage the active participation of local churches in global ministries. If your church is considering a more hands-on approach to global ministries here's an article that will help think through some of the implications of being a missional congregation. If your church would like to be involved in developing an international mission partnership, here's an article that will help you get started in the right direction.

If your church is considering sending a mission team, feel free to contact our office regarding possible ministry locations internationally. We work closely with Free Methodist churches, mission groups and General Conferences around the world. If you need help thinking through all the steps for organizing a team, feel free to download our Mission Team Manual.

If individuals are considering involvement in a Short-Term Mission assignment take a look at what we have to offer to help with your process. If you are looking for training in how to effectively organize a mission team, check out our Team Leader Training program.
