FEBRUARY 2008 Update

It is incredible to me how quickly time flies. General Conference 2008 is approaching and we are looking forward to a wonderful weekend. It is now time to complete the details and so we thought that it was important to provide the pastoral and lay delegates with a checklist. Please review the items and ensure that you have all the information required. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me. I will be happy to help you and do all I can to ensure that your conference attendance is hassle free.

1) Reservations at the Toronto Airport Marriott Hotel can be made by either following this link or by calling the hotel directly at 1.800.905.2811. When calling, please be sure to mention that you are with The Free Methodist Church in Canada. The room rate is $131.10 a night including all taxes.

2) The hotel’s address is 901 Dixon Road, Toronto, Ontario M9W 1J5. This is the address you would use to mapquest directions. Directions are also available on the hotel’s website.

3) Now is a great time to book your flights or make your travel arrangements. There are three options listed on the website or you may use your own resources. It is important that all participants in the travel equalization plan visit the website to access the necessary forms and submit the $210 travel equalization fee. The deadline for remitting travel funds is February 29, 2008. Information on reimbursement is outlined on the website as well.

4) If you have not yet done so, [the deadline was January 31, 2008] it is important that you complete the delegate credential forms found on the website and forward it to the ministry centre. Apart from arrangements, I would also like to invite anyone who is interested in volunteering at the conference to contact me. We have several jobs to fill and would greatly appreciate your participation.

On a final note, this year’s conference material will be available to you in March. We decided that it would be much more efficient and cost effective to provide the reports and information electronically. You will be able to access the information on the website. You will be receiving further updates on availability and accessibility as the time approaches.
